WELCOME

AtheistsClub is for the most deviant of deviants: atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, and all hard core freethinkers.
The AtheistsClub promotes artists that share a way of thinking and living that aims to bring out the best in people so that all people can have the best in life. Our members reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. The AtheistsClub is for artists who emphasize reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation. Oh, and let's have some fun too!

JOURNAL 2007.11.12
HUMANISM
In this week's journal we continue our series of articles about humanism. We're moving on to the third statement in the Humanist Manifesto III as put forth by the American Humanist Association.
"Ethical values are derived from human need and interest as tested by experience. Humanists ground values in human welfare shaped by human circumstances, interests, and concerns and extended to the global ecosystem and beyond. We are committed to treating each person as having inherent worth and dignity, and to making informed choices in a context of freedom consonant with responsibility."
More next week.

ONE WEEK
The AtheistsClub usually responds to notes and messages within one week. We do better on some days than others, but seven days seems to be the practical limit on how much we can do when things get busy. We almost never get complaints, but I wanted to make sure that everyone knows, we are definitely not ignoring you if it takes that long! Thanks for understanding.

He's right, though. In some ways it is a shame that we can't count ourselves as a religion - if only to get some theists to take us seriously.

Agnostic? Humanist? Freethinker?

In that one link for Atlanta Freethought Society, there are a couple of links, I think, to other similar organizations. I will double-check, but I'm pretty sure the article linked them as well...for our friends.
