The AtheistsClub promotes artists that share a way of thinking and living that aims to bring out the best in people so that all people can have the best in life. Our members reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. The AtheistsClub is for artists who emphasize reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation. Oh, and let's have some fun too!

HUMANISM
This week, we come to the summary of the Humanist Manifesto III of the American Humanist Association.
"Working to benefit society maximizes individual happiness. Progressive cultures have worked to free humanity from the brutalities of mere survival and to reduce suffering, improve society, and develop global community. We seek to minimize the inequities of circumstance and ability, and we support a just distribution of natures resources and the fruits of human effort so that as many as possible can enjoy a good life.
Humanists are concerned for the well being of all, are committed to diversity, and respect those of differing yet humane views. We work to uphold the equal enjoyment of human rights and civil liberties in an open, secular society and maintain it is a civic duty to participate in the democratic process and a planetary duty to protect natures integrity, diversity, and beauty in a secure, sustainable manner.
Thus engaged in the flow of life, we aspire to this vision with the informed conviction that humanity has the ability to progress toward its highest ideals. The responsibility for our lives and the kind of world in which we live is ours and ours alone."

Tryptonique
New member, ~Tryptonique has a clever essay I think you'll enjoy. An Explanation of My Atheism combines rational exposition with a wonderfully twisted sense of humor. Here is a short excerpt.
You are in your room and a sentient being pops in through an open window (use your imagination as to what form this being takes). He starts doing miracles to convince you that he is in fact, "god." He turns water into wine, walks on water, balances the federal budget, and tells you who killed JFK. In that instance, how do you in fact *know* that this being is in fact god and not simply a space alien with superior technological prowess and an evolved consciousness? How do you know it isn't a crazy evolved super virus that you ate in some turkey dinner your crazy Aunt Mildred made for Thanksgiving dinner that is eating away at your brain and causing delusions?
Read the whole essay here:
and let ~Tryptonique know what you think. His replies to the various comments he has received are worth reading as well. I'll post a few of those in the coming weeks. LINKS
AtheistsClub maintains a collections of resource links to help our members explore the free-thinking world.
Stamps and a Poster
*jerrydmills has these two great stamps in his gallery and some vector tutorials I'm going to try out as well. He also found a great Atheism poster here: [link]

From *CellsArt comes this happy little stamp for the holiday season.

ONE WEEK
The AtheistsClub usually responds to notes and messages within one week. We do better on some days than others, but seven days seems to be the practical limit on how much we can do when things get busy. We almost never get complaints, but I wanted to make sure that everyone knows, we are definitely not ignoring you if it takes that long! Thanks for understanding.
