:thumb50987376:

AtheistsClub is for the most deviant of deviants: atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, and all hard core freethinkers.

The AtheistsClub promotes artists that share a way of thinking and living that aims to bring out the best in people so that all people can have the best in life. Our members reject supernatural and authoritarian beliefs. They affirm that we must take responsibility for our own lives and the communities and world in which we live. The AtheistsClub is for artists who emphasize reason and scientific inquiry, individual freedom and responsibility, human values and compassion, and the need for tolerance and cooperation. Oh, and let's have some fun too!

How to Join
Becoming a member of the AtheistsClub is easy, just add us to your friends list. We will confirm your membership by adding you to ours. If you really want to be uber-cool, you can also send us a self-portrait for our gallery. Its not required for membership, it's just fun.

Our own *whisperelmwood sent in a [link] to a group on Blogspot for all atheists and agnostics. She, herself is a member with some nice discussions (and rants) going on. [link]

You can now find the AtheistsClub on del.icio.us and YouTube, where we hope to gather helpful links for our members.

AtheistsClub maintains a collections of resource links to help our members explore the free-thinking world.

<div class="sectionheading">Golden Compass</div>

On October 7, 2007 president of the Catholic League, William A. Donohue called for a boycott of the film Golden Compass saying he would not ordinarily object to the film, but that while the religious elements will be diluted from the source material, the film will encourage children to read the novels, which he says promote "atheism for kids."

Well, with a recommendation like that, I naturally went to see the movie. It bombed at the box office (and rightfully so) but it did get me to check out the books. Not a bad read.

The interesting thing is that I hadn't even heard of the movie until I heard the call for a boycott to prevent atheism. Thanks guys!

<div class="sectionheading">ONE WEEK</div>

The AtheistsClub usually responds to notes and messages within one week. We do better on some days than others, but seven days seems to be the practical limit on how much we can do when things get busy. We almost never get complaints, but I wanted to make sure that everyone knows, we are definitely not ignoring you if it takes that long! Thanks for understanding.

You should be wary of pseudo-scientific rubbish like Zeitgeist. Sure it makes you think, but it's designed to do that... and only that. Most of the stuff in that documentary isn't backed up by solid resources, not to mention the part about 9/11 being an 'inside job' is complete and utter bullshit in itself, and anyone who believes a word of it should string themselves up by the toes and have a rabid ape tear their genitalia off resulting in rapid blood loss and death.

Thanks for your comment on our recent journal entry featuring the movie Zeitgeist. When I said "thinking may be required" I meant it. Conspiracy theories share the pseudo-scientific style in common with religious dogmatism and Zeitgeist is a prime example. How many of our hard thinking AtheistsClub members will be drawn in by the opening segment on religion and, agreeing with it, stick around for the conspiracy as well?

Even if the majority of the information cannot be backed by anything solid, by at least introducing the concepts to us it helps us to remain 'free thinkers' as the paragraph before the link mentions.

Indeed, that's why I think this journal will have a nice impact on our readers as it did on Metalmann. Agree with the video or not, it gets the thinking mind going.

About the Golden Compass, I can't believe it didn't do better than it did in the box office. I went expecting a young adult film about a magical fairyland, but between Sam Elliott, Daniel Craig, and polar bear fights, it was really pretty badass.

I also can't stand the people criticizing it for pushing atheism on kids. Even if that were the case, kids can't understand symbolism and metaphors anyway. You gotta spell everything out for them.

This is truly a club I can appreciate. A club that actually lets you speak out your views on religion without being criticized for it. At school I'm being constantly preached about God and why i should believe in him and all this other bull. They don't understand my views on religion and try to sympathize, rather they try to get me convinced into believing in God. They need to learn that pushing your religion on another only makes them more convinced of their own beliefs.
